My Weekend
This was a good lazy weekend. I rented and watched Serenity Friday night. I really liked it. I guess Jerry was right about it being worth watching. I may have to rent/buy the Firefly series to get the full backstory. The writing made it entertaining. I wonder what Joss Whedon is working on now.
I also rented Red Eye but did not watch it until Saturday. I liked it also, but it was really nothing special. Cillian Murphy is good. I've liked him since watching 28 Days Later, and he was also good as Scarecrow in the last Batman. I think he actually tried to get the part of Batman but was beat out by Christian Bale.
I watched the Preakness on Saturday and all the buildup to the race. I was rooting for Barbaro just for the historical significance of a Triple Crown possibility. I missed the KD, but the length of his lead at the end was amazing. Everyone was speculating he would be the next super horse, but when he burst through the gates prior to the start, I had the feeling something bad might happen. It was painful to watch the limping horse. He was picking up his injured hindleg, and it was obvious how much pain he was experiencing. They were performing surgery this afternoon, and I hope they can at least save his life.
I took a three hour nap today and did little of anything. Jasper is in the floor gnawing on a bone. Such a good dog.
UPDATE: Barbaro survived the surgery, but his vet says that there is still only a 50/50 chance of survival. I wonder if they are taking samples for future artificial insemination. He would have been worth up to $50 million in stud fees if he had won the Triple Crown.

Glad you liked Serenity! Very good ending to a terrific series. Whedon is working on Wonder Woman currently. Now, if youd try BSG, the circle will be complete
